I had the fortune to take a four day raft trip in October on the San Juan River from Bluff Utah to Mexican Hat with a group of 13 others. Realizing that Monument Valley was only 25 miles from the take-out, we stayed one night at the Navajo View Hotel in the Monument Valley. Many of the photographs of the Mittens and Merrick Butte were taken from the balcony of our hotel. It is truly a room with a view. If you get a chance to go to Monument Valley the hotel is new and very nice.

Our river trip began on Sunday October 11, 2009 and concluded on Wednesday October 14, 2009. We camped four nights including our stay at the put-in and carried all our gear down the river.
